Orkla on Dow Jones’ top sustainability index
Orkla has been recognised as one of the three leading food companies in Europe by S&P Dow Jones Indices. For the tenth year in a row, Orkla is included in the prestigious Dow Jones Sustainability Index Europe.
“The index covers a broad range of environmental, social and governance criteria and has been useful to us in comparing our own performance to that of other similar companies. It is very satisfactory to see that our efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, develop sustainable packaging solutions and contribute to the sustainable production of raw materials are acknowledged by a high score in these areas,” says Ellen Behrens, Director Sustainability at Orkla.
The Dow Jones Sustainability Index is considered by many to be the world’s most significant ranking of companies’ environmental and corporate social responsibility performance, and serves as an important benchmark for investors and other stakeholders in assessing companies’ non-financial results.
“Making the transition to sustainable production is a social responsibility, but is also key to succeeding as a company. It is a question of being able to offer products and solutions for a sustainable future and of good risk management. Inclusion in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index is a recognition of Orkla’s ability to manage sustainability risk, and is important for maintaining trust in us as a company,” Ellen Behrens says.
Orkla has been included in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index for the last nine years.
