Press release -
Orkla listed in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index
Orkla has again been included in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index Europe, which ranks companies according to their performance on environmental issues and social responsibility.
“We see that Orkla’s sustainability efforts are becoming more and more important in creating growth and building trust. Being included in one of the world’s most highly regarded sustainability indices is a major acknowledgment of the job we’re doing. It inspires us to do even more,” says Orkla’s Vice President of Sustainability, Ellen Behrens.
The Dow Jones index is widely viewed as the world’s most significant ranking of company performance on environmental issues and social responsibility. It serves as an important guideline for investors and other stakeholders in assessing non-financial performance.
“We are taking targeted steps to address challenges in our own supply chains, and are continuously making our products more sustainable by promoting sustainable raw materials production, developing renewable and recyclable packaging, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. For us, this about both acting responsibly and meeting consumer expectations,” says Behrens.
Orkla’s sustainability goals for the period through 2025 entail a gradual transition to renewable energy, increased resource recovery and products that encourage a healthy and sustainable lifestyle. In recent years, the group has significantly increased its efforts in key areas such as nutrition and health, sustainable purchasing, deforestation-free supply chains, reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and sustainable packaging.
Orkla has been included in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index for the past nine years.
