We are putting sustainability on our menu

Orkla is participating at the Foodscape trade fair, offering edible packaging and other innovations.

Foodscape is a new trade fair and meeting place that for two days focuses a spotlight on healthier food and sustainable solutions.

“Making the transition to sustainable value chains is a demanding process, and the same applies to efforts to promote a healthy lifestyle. Arenas like Foodscape are important as a source of inspiration, ideas and knowledge that can help each and every one of us move forward,” relates Ellen Behrens, who is in charge of sustainability at Orkla.

At the opening conference, she participated in a panel talk on sustainable innovations along with representatives from NorgesGruppen, Bama and Nortura.

Making it easier for bakeries to offer sustainable temptations

The three Orkla companies Idun, Nic and BaKo will be present at the fair with a joint stand.

“We will be exhibiting a selection of bakery and ice cream ingredients, packaging and solutions that can make it easier for bakeries, restaurants, cafés and bars and other professional customers to offer healthy, sustainable food,” says Brit Bjørkli, Marketing Manager at Idun Industri.

One of the most innovative sustainability launches is BaKo’s Do Eat concept, which consists of dessert and single-portion moulds made of potato starch. So these moulds can be eaten, which means that there is no waste at all.

“BaKo is committed to offering renewable alternatives to single-use plastic products, and has launched single-use, disposable cutlery made of plant starch and disposable plates made of sugarcane residues,” Brit reports.
