Orkla brand managers won gold in world championship in marketing
Never before has anyone from Norway won this prestigious award.
The Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity is the world’s largest celebration of creativity in communications and marketing. Young Lions is the competition for those under 30 years old, and in the category for creative marketer of the year, the first place – for the first time ever – was awarded to Norway: Marie Mauseth and Henrik Norem at Orkla.
“When we learned that we had won, it was like a dream. It’s an amazing recognition,” the winners say.
Brand Manager Mauseth and Norem won with the marketing campaign “Make the World a Sweeter Place”, together with Nidar and One Young World. They qualified for the Young Lions competition by winning the Norwegian competition in 2020 in cooperation with ANFO and Capa.
Around 75 countries competed digitally in this year’s Young Lions competition, which had to be postponed for one year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Young Lions is considered to be the world championship in marketing for talents. Our very own Henrik and Marie won with an amazing Nidar case. Norway’s representatives knocked out all the other countries, and in this competition we must bear in mind that there are many capable talents from the best marketers around the world. The fact that Nidar has the world’s best marketing talents makes us incredibly proud,” says Thor Vidar Ilje, Director of Marketing at Orkla Confectionery & Snacks Norge.
This year’s winners will receive their award at Cannes Lions Live this year. The festival will run from 21 – 25 June 2021, and will be digital.
“Now we’re celebrating separately on Teams, but we’ll be getting together to have a proper celebration at the earliest opportunity,” say Marie Mauseth and Henrik Norem.
